What do my feelings mean?
Understanding your emotions is a vital part of your education. Feelings like stress or quiet joy are signals from your mind, helping you recognize what you need to thrive. By identifying these triggers, you can navigate your academic journey with a greater sense of clarity, supportive connection, and inner calm.

Simple Strategies for Managing Your Emotions
01
Anxiety
It’s totally normal to feel anxious - we all do! Try this exercise called box breathing: breathe in for 4 seconds, hold it for 4, breathe out for 4, and hold for 4. Repeat a couple of times until your mind feels calm. Journaling your feelings can help you cope with them as well!
02
Low Confidence
It can be easy to focus on the negative things in your day, causing you to doubt yourself. But try to put more focus on the good! Write down at least one good thing you do each day to shift your perspective and build self-assurance.
03
Sad or Depressed
Feeling down? Try taking a gratitude walk: get some exercise and notice 2-3 things around you that you are glad exist. There’s always something to appreciate, even in the smallest moments of your day.
04
Frustration
Many things in life don’t go as planned, and it can be hard to stay positive. Try this exercise to release some tension: squeeze your fists tightly for 5 seconds, then release them. Repeat a few times until you feel more calm and centered.
05
Stressed or Burned Out
Life can get overwhelming pretty quickly. Try focusing on one thing at a time: split up tasks and take breaks! Move your body and listen to your favorite tunes to help clear your head and regain your energy.
Lonely
06
Loneliness can make you feel no one understands you, but that’s never the case! Try sitting with someone new at lunch or start a conversation. There are so many great people out there who may be just like you: try to find them!
Support is Always Within Reach
